История
The Church Office is open 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
The Church Office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Consecrated: 1941 (Paterson); September 1965
Sanctuary: The parish owns its permanent sanctuary, which is not its original one. The previous building was at 135-143 Bloomfield Ave. in Paterson, NJ, which was bought in 1932 and then sold in 1965. The church built its current facility in 1965 and then remolded in 1996.
Important Events: The ground for the new church was blessed in 1963. Archbishop Torkom Manoogian, then-Primate, ordained 17 acolytes in 1977 and deacons in 1980. The church's Abajian Community Center was dedicated in 1981. St. Leon hosted the 82nd Diocesan Assembly in 1984, the same year it celebrated the 50th anniversary of the parish. A deacon's training program was established in 1993, and Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate, ordained six subdeacons and five tbirs in 1994; he ordained eight choir members, two altar servers, three tbirs, and four subdeacons in 1996. Fr. Vahan Hovhanessian was elevated to the rank of Vartabed in 1995. In 1995, the parish hosted the ACYOA Sports Weekend.
