DEDMASHEN

Type: Domed single nave church Location: Sevan Region Date: VII c. Evidence for date: Important details: State of preservation: Intact; dome has fallen partially Reconstruction: History & commentary: This church, considering the passage of time, is still intact and very massive in structure. It is a hall church without free supports, whose cupola rests on arches set up on pilasters buttressed by the North and South walls. This church is very similar to Ptlni/Pt'ghni and Talish/Aruc.

The immense interior space is flanked by three elements going from West towards the East. Like Ptlini/Pt'ghni and Talish/Aruc, Dedmashen is a longitudinal domed hall church and the east apse, polygonal from the exterior, is flanked by two square chambers, each with a niche on the east side. There are entrances or portals in the west and south, which have partially collapsed.

On the East apse, there are a three large windows.

The cupola, which has partially fallen has been replaced by a wood covering.
