Christian Armenia Newspaper Christian Armenia Newspaper

The Christian Armenia Newspaper is a bi-weekly publication founded in March 1997 under the pontificate of His Holiness Karekin I of blessed memory. The provision of the newspaper is a function of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and is an outlet of the Christian Education Center.

The purpose of the newspaper is to provide religious, cultural and news items in a newspaper format to the general population of Armenia. Printed in Eastern Armenian, and published at the Mother See, topics of religion that are discussed are: the sect movements and their history, basic religious principles and dogmatic and theological doctrine as related to social problems of today. The area of culture has broad based topics on history, all branches of art and literature. News stories and information are provided by the Information Services Department of the Mother See. In addition the Information Services Department provides translated articles of interest on Church history.

One of the long-term goals of the newspaper is to become a weekly publication. They also plan on expanding the information provided to include an introduction to other religions, their histories, and to compare and contrast their similarities and differences in dogmas and rites.

Currently, all dioceses of the Armenian Church receive the newspaper, including the dioceses of Artsakh and Georgia as well as others outside of Armenia. The newspaper is also provided to the National Library of Armenia, the Yeghishe Charents Art and Literature Library and the libraries of: the National Academy of Sciences, the Matenadaran (National Archives of Armenia), the National Art Gallery, the Museum of History, Yerevan State University, the University of Architecture, the Medical University, the Khachatur Abovian Pedagogical Institute, the Hrachia Ajarian University, and other institutions of higher learning. Distribution of the newspaper will also be added to Armenian Art Organizations in the near future.

The editor of the newspaper is Mrs. Astghik Stamboltsyan.
