SIMON GALSTYAN Симон Галстян , AN INTERNATIONAL AUTHORITY POSSESSING PAINTER Date of birth: 1914 Place of birth: Yerevan Date of death: 2000 Place of death: Yerevan Simon Mesrop Galstyan (1914-2000) is one of the classic and honoured artists of the Republic of Armenia and fourfold included in the British Continental Catalogue, member of Christie's Auction. 1934: Graduated from Yerevan Art College 1936: First Prize in Caucasian Art Exhibition 1936: Admitted to the Leningrad State Academy of Arts 1939: Member of Union of Painters of the Soviet Union 1941 - 1945: Painter of "Red Star" Military Newspaper 1946: First Prize in Armenian Art Competition after Komitas 1950: First Sole Exhibition in Yerevan, Armenia 1950, 1954, 1957: Sole Exhibitions in Moscow, Russia 1961: Given the rank of Honored Painter of Armenia 1974: Exhibitions in Paris, Marseilles, Istanbul 1976: Recorded in Soviet Armenian Encyclopedia 1987: Second Sole Exhibition in Yerevan, Armenia 1990: Recorded in Armenian National Encyclopedia 1993 - 1994: Sole Exhibition in USA 1999: Sole Exhibition in Armenian National Gallery (Yerevan, Armenia) 1999: A documentary film was made by National TV on the author's 85-th anniversary of the artist 2002:"Composer Makar Ekmalyan" /1981, oil on canvas, 167,5 x 194,5 cm/ was purchased by the Holly Chair of St. Echmiadzin and is beeing exhibited till now in the the Cafedral museum. 2002: The paintings have been presented at the Christie's auction in London and included in the British and Continental Pictures catalog National Gallery of Armenia//http://www.gallery.am/viewauthor.php?id=5&id1=&ct_id=1&col=1&a_id=339&langid=1
