Foundation

"Ohanyan" College was founded in 1997 as Eurasia International University fulcrum non-governmental college by Professor Suren Ohanyan - Head of economic-geography faculty with Yerevan State Institute of Economy, Doctor of Sciences. The college was founded as an alternative to a state school and was capable to compete with other institutions in continuously improving educational sector since founded. Being a private institution it was classed among those five institutions of RA which are already considered to be stable.

The purpose of college foundation was to meet the demands of parents fostered by higher education and upbringing requirements by organized teaching methods. The authorized program held at "Ohanyan" college gives an opportunity to school graduates to prepare for entrance exams and conduct activities in the educational chain - "school-universities". This new way of organizing continuous education is a unique and authorized program for the development of the national educational system. This new unique educational method assumes the implementation of a systematized educational process through requirements, pedagogical, psychological educational and authoritative approaches due state standards trying to create a new type of an educational structure in this transitional period. The performance of the above mentioned gives rise to a new teaching model in the boundaries of current state criteria.

Management

Structure: preschool, elementary, secondary and high schools (college and culture center).

Educational activity licenses: No. 130 and 131, given 26.04.2002.

The building of the college 1005 m2 is given rent-free by the RA government.

Gyms and swimming pools are 300 m2 are allocated as a private property by the community.

Teachers' council The staff of the college is well specialized and highly qualified teachers selected by competition which is recertified annually by ad hoc commission. From the very beginning of college foundation specialized chairs were established by means of which the authority takes control over every field of educational process. Chairs are headed by chairmen and all of them have high qualification.

Elementary school (1-3 forms)

An Intensive and authorized program is performed despite general education and also prominence is given to lower-form pupils` education which is provided by educational cultural center with "Ohanyan" college. Pastimes, excursions and various creative groups are of great help to low-age pupils in their character formulation and the latter make easier interpersonal relations. The advantage of the program is that the teacher must show an individual approach to each pupil taking into account his mental and physical abilities and potential.

Middle school (4-8 forms)

A profound and diverse teaching program is realized in the sphere of natural and non-technical subjects, that is the pupils how are interested in these sciences are able to affirm their further educational basis with the help of teachers' hard work and instructions. In this regard, it is worth mentioning, that pupils also take part in the pupils' council activities and programs which are supervised by the president of the pupils' council. The latter consist of deputy head of the college, prime-ministers of education and science, culture, sport and tourism, monitors who present the demands, points of view and suggestions of their own classes.

College (9-10 forms)

The teaching programs are: law, economics, history-philology, natural, physical-mathematical and vocational education project. Teaching in graduating forms is organized in a special way; that is school graduates who have already chosen the field of their interests, are able to choose any bias they prefer.

Preparatory courses

Paraprofessional college together with Eurasia International University fulfills a specific teaching program in the faculties of "Law", "Management" and "Foreign Languages", that is full-bright students are given an opportunity to study in the second year without passing entrance exams.

School graduates of "Ohanyan" college are quite able to apply to any high institution without any complications, as they are well-prepared in the specialized fields. What concerns pupils who prefer to go on with their further education in the Eurasia Institution are privileged in a sense of flexible system of discounted fee tuition.

School Graduates

Within 10 years "Ohanyan" college (former "Avan" college) managed to make a history of its school graduates. The specific method of "Ohanyan" college creates such an opportunity for its students to apply to any state or private high institutions without additional tutorship. Golden medal winners are distinguished among other students who didn't lose their privilege to apply to both Eurasia and state universities. Besides all these, the school graduates took part in educational, teaching programs, cultural and various leisure activities. The most noticeable fact in regard to graduates of "Ohanyan" college is that the formers prefer to return to their native institution and work here. The complex of Eurasia educational structures: "Newtonik" preschool, "Ohanyan" college and Eurasia International University are ready to accept any school graduate with great pleasure.

Admission

Admission to the educational complex is competition-based; study is tuition-based. There is differentiated approach to the tuition depending on grades and advance in study. With exception of the 1 st , 9 th and 10 th grades, there is tuition-free study for 10 percent of school pupils.

Parents may choose to have their kids study in the afternoon time, or to have prolonged study. The complex bus picks up kids from their homes to the school, and then takes back home.

Each class has up to 14 pupils, and special class – 7. If necessary, there may be organized individual classes, especially for math and language.

In July and August, there is “summer school”. At weekends, preparatory classes in Armenian, math, English and Russian are organized. The main purpose for these classes is to provide new pupils with knowledge necessary for study at the complex.

The complex is fully provided with the internet access, sports, laboratory facilities, as well as all the modern facilities necessary for programming and extra classes. The buildings have their own warm-water supply station.

The college graduates without having private classes on general basis enter state universities and non-state licensed universities.

Those graduates who have grade 4.5 and higher enter the economics, law, and foreign languages departments of International University Eurasia without taking entrance exams. They also enjoy 25% tuition discount.

Educational-cultural center

Extra educational programs are implemented in accordance with pupils' interests and priorities. The cultural center is many-sided. There are following circles. Song club "Wings of song" Dancing club Piano and violin classes Drawing classes Chess club Gymnastics Computer laboratory Junior diplomat club Language ( English, Turkish, and Iranian) classes Young linguist and TV reporter club

Song club "Wings of song". This involves singing, stage performance, and vocal skills developing. This club is notable for private individual songs. Liana Tigranyan, head of the center, pays special attention to the performance skills and staging of songs . The studio doesn't have any age limits; groups are made up of in accordance with age, as well as vocal abilities. "Wings of song" group has given a number of performances in the best stages in Yerevan , as well as charity performances in various regions in Armenia .

Dancing club. The main instructor is Arusyak Dilanyan. National, Latin American, and classical dances are instructed here. The members of the dancing studio feel free on the stage and lack any kind of age inferiorities. Through a variety of dance janres, the pupils not only learn to dance well, but also relax after hard study.

Piano and violin sections. The head instructor is Karine Sargsyan. In our times, the number of parents who wish to give a many-sided education to their kids is getting more and more. It is our times' imperative to become more and more educated, the boundaries for education are limitless. This is why the cultural center found it necessary to open up piano and violin sections as well.

Drawing studio . All the necessary conditions are available for the kids with bright imagination. This wonderful world of colors was founded by an experienced teacher Lusine Soghomonyan. She helps every kid transmit their imaginations to paper, thus giving the kids' pictures life and breath. Drawing activities are helpful in revealing kids' psychological states, which is extremely important in the time of study. At Ohanyan college, the kids on regular basis organize exhibitions of paintings and hand-made items created by the pupils of the cultural center.

Chess school. It was head of the educational complex Souren Ohanyan who included chess in the syllabus. Chess helps develop quick and smart thinking of a kid. At the educational complex, kids begin to do chess even at pre-school age. The chess club has become one of the most important sections which is run by Manvel Avetissyan.

Gymnastics. A special attention at the Ohanyan college is paid to pupils' physical training. At the playground that has been donated by Avan district authorities the pupils can attend ushu and karate sections that are run by Hovhaness Yaheyan. The educational complex has hired special trainers that have presented their program.

Computer lab. At the educational complex, the following computer programs are taught: Windows, Word, Excel, Internet; also, computer graphics( PhotoShop, CorelDraw, Adope Illustrator, Page Maker);programming(Pascal, C/C++, Visual Basic).

Junior diplomat club. There functions young diplomat club, where pupils get knowledge and skills in law, getting acquainted with human rights.

Language ( English, Turkish, and Iranian) classes. Experienced professionals are involved in the program of guides and languages (English, Turkish, and Iranian). Through these classes, the process of study at University gets easier and more interesting.

Young linguist and TV reporter club. Young linguist's and TV reporter's studio. This is attended by those gifted in journalistic, oral and rhetoric skills. They volunteer at local newspapers and magazines, as well as publish their articles in periodical “ Eurasia ”.
