Anna Antaramian has an MFA from New York University and a BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a professional actress for several years, at one point touring with the Everyman Players throughout the United States and in Europe. In New York she worked at the Public Theatre, the WPA, the Colonnades Theatre, The Circle-In-The-Square Downtown, The Actor's Studio, and The Title Theatre. In Boston she worked with the Open Door Theatre and in Stamford with the Hartman Theatre Co. She has worked with Israel Horovitz, John Guare, Eric Bentley, Ken Holamon, and Patrick McGuire, her husband, with whom she adapted classic Armenian folktales produced at the Armenian Repertory Theatre (ART) which she established in the late 1970s. She is the Past President of the Illinois Theatre Association and directs for the Rocky Mountain Repertory Company in Colorado. The recipient of several theatre research awards, she is currently Director of Theatre at Northeastern Illinois University. The Armenian Question, which she co-authored with playwright Bill Rolleri, was first produced in New York in 1977; a revised version was staged in Philadelphia in 2003.
