Current activities:

As-Ex, Armenian Export Association of Machinery and Machine Tool Industry is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, the members of which are the following machine building companies located in Armenia:

Armavir Machinery Plant JSC; Charentsavan Tools Plant JSC; Giumry Forging Press Equipment Plant JSC; Giumry Grinding Machinery Plant JSC; Haykarhatmekena JSC; INTERSTANOK JSC; Yerevan Machine Tool Association Corporation JSC; YERFREZ JSC; MS+ JV; ArmRosStankoInstrument JV; Levimpex JV; GohGegh Ltd.

As-Ex was established in October 1995 with the mission of concerting efforts in developing and supporting the enterprises of this field in Armenia. Definitely, the most important factor of economic development of the sector is the development of the export activities. For realizing its mission, As-Ex has adopted the following goals:

To facilitate the development of machine building and machine tool industry in Armenia, to cooperate for promotion of export efforts; To establish contacts with foreign partners; To coordinate and promote marketing activities to efficiently realize enterprises' export possibilities, to increase the existing technological level; Business consulting and planning; As-Ex members' training in the fields of marketing, finance, management, etc; To represent the interests of the enterprises in Armenia and abroad.

Organizational Structure: The supreme body of the organization is General Meeting. A leadership of the organization between the meetings is implemented by the President and Director. The staff includes Director, Accountant and Business Consultant. Accomplished activities:

A number of seminars was organized under the support of Eurasia Foundation /USAID/ and TACIS program dedicated to:

The issue of export marketing and design; The restructuring principles of the enterprises after privatization; Western financial and accounting standards; International marketing.

Highly qualified experts from Germany and USA conducted these seminars. Under the support of TACIS and BESO (UK) the consultancy was delivered dedicated to the legal aspects of export contracts. Under the joint support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Armenia, EOMMEX organization and Eurasia Foundation, the participation of 4 representatives of the machine building industry at the 63rd Thessaloniki International Trade Fair was organized.

Under the joint support of Trade Facilitate Office of Canada (TFOC), Canadian Executive Support Organization (CESO), Canadian Armenian Business Council (CABC), Armenian Embassy in Canada, and Eurasia Foundation, 4 representatives of machine building companies participated at PMDS'98 International Trade Fair in Toronto.

Within the framework of the project financed by Eurasia Foundation the Technical Council was appointed to evaluate competitiveness of Armenian Machine Building Industry based on the joint discussion with foreign experts and results of the participation at the above mentioned trade fairs. The conclusion of the first report of the Council is that 80% of Armenian Machine Building Industry is competitive in international markets.

In 1999 under the support of Eurasia Foundation and Canadian Armenian Business Council (CABC) 4 members of As-Ex visited CMTS'99 Trade Fair in Toronto where they conducted business meetings with the Canadian businessmen engaged in this field. The visit resulted in 18 preliminary agreements.

To adequately present the products of machine building industry of Armenia within the framework of the project financed by Eurasia Foundation As-Ex has organized a production of advertising ArmRosStankoInstrument and CD on Armenian Machine Building Companies.

In September 2001 under the joint support of TACIS SODETEG and ProSME programs 3 representatives of As-Ex have visited EMO Hannover 2001 "World of Machine Tools" Trade Fair. As a result of the visit, a range of agreements on joint production was achieved.


Within the framework of its activities As-Ex has contacts with the organizations such as: VDW (Germany); Eurasia Foundation (USA); UNDP Export Promotion Program; IESC (USA); TACIS (European Union); ProSME program (GTZ-Germany); TEXTIMA GmbH (Fischer+Limberger Group) in Germany; Canadian Armenian Business Council (Canada); BESO (UK); Non-governmental and international organizations.

As-Ex is a member of Armenian Assembly of America.
