Soon after the Armenian people of Musa Dagh were settled in Anjar in 1939, the Armenian Evangelical School (elementary section) started to operate in the newly constructed church building. The classes were carved out with blankets. The same teacher was teaching in two different classes at the same time.

During the following years, the school and the boarding departments prospered exponentially. The number of the students reached 750. 400 of this number were the boarding students. Because of the civil war that erupted in Lebanon in 1975 there was a dramatic shrink in the number of boarding students.

In 1972 Sisters Hedwig, Mary and Anna retired. They were given a flat in Ain-Saade, in Lebanon. They lived there till 1976. During the heavy fightings Sister Mary passed away. She is buried in Anjar.

After the retirement of Sister Hedwig, Rev. Hagop Jambazian assumed the management of the school. In 1975 Rev. Manase Shnorokian became the principal of the school for one year. In 1976 Rev Hovhannes Sarmazian became the principal of the school until 1990. After the retirement of the Rev. Sarmazian, Rev. Nerses Balabanian became the school's principal and the pastor of the church. In 1998, Pastor Raffi Messerlian took over the position from Rev. Balabanian.
