Armenian Tourism Association (ATA) is a non-governmental, Business association, assisting development of entry and internal tourism, shaping and advertisement of tourist capacity of Armenia both on regional, and on the international level, and implementing programs and actions required for the development of international tourism in Armenia. ATA was founded in the March 1997 by group of Armenian travel and tourism companies, and was registered 07 June 1997 by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. Goals The creation and advertisement of attractive tourist image of Armenia; The realization of projects promoting the development of tourism; Increasing the number of tourists visiting Armenia; Mutually profitable co-operation in the field of tourism; Professional training and education. Tasks Promoting the authority of tourism as a profession; Studying and elaborating International Tourism Service standards in Armenia; Professional issues publishing; Collaboration with international organizations; Legal benefits protection of the members.


Projects In 1998 with the financial support of "Eurasia" Foundation /USAID/ we have finished a project which involves:

Establishing of "Tourism management School"; Establishing the "Tourism" Armenian magazine; Participation in preparation of legislation stimulating tourism development; Participated in the EURO-MED congress in Athens (1998 April 24-26); Foundation of BSTC /Black Sea Tourism Co-operation/ in Istanbul (1998 May 9).

In 1999 we realize the projects "PANDOK-Armenian B&B" and "Clean Up Armenia" under the International Executive Corps (IESC) fund by the Agency for International Development (USAID) of the Government of the United States of America

"PANDOK-Armenian B&B": program organized one-month (August-September) classes, which were passed by Volunteer Executives Mrs. Pamela and Mr. Warren Bowen. "Clean Up Armenia" 26 September: program organized cleaning-up process of one of the most attractive Armenian tourist route: Yerevan-Tcharents arc's-Geghard monastery-Garni gorge. ATA has developed the educational program for Tourism and Hotel qualification in Commercial-business College. These projects were developed with participation of the AUA College of Business and Management students.
