Биография

He was born in 1959.

1982 - Graduated from Moscow State Institute of Theatrical Art after Lunacharski /now Theatre Academy of Russia/, department of directing.

1984-1989 - headed the State Theatre after Shirvanzade in Kapan.

1989-1996 - headed the State Theatre after V. Achemyan in Gyumri.

1997 up-to-date - the art director of Yerevan State Youth Theatre.

Hakob Ghazanchyan has directed more than 40 performances and has taken part in various international festivals, such as:

  • "Silver ship" in Kostroma ("Letter from youth stations", 1997, Grand-prix)
  • "The stage in the crossroad" in Plovdiv ("Antigone", 1997)
  • "The beginning" in Moscow ("Antigone", 1998)
  • "Kiev Travnevi" in Kiev ("Hamlet", 2000)
  • "Bospor's agons" in Kerch ("Antigone", 2000, First prize)
  • "Golden lion" in Lvov ("Nazar the Brave", 2000)
  • "Bospor's agons" in Kerch ("Clouds", 2001, First prize)
  • International Theatrical Festival after A. P. Chekhov in Moscow ("Clouds", 2003)
  • "Stobi" in Macedonia ("Clouds", 2003, First prize)
  • International Theatrical Festival in Moscow ("Double Bass", 2004)
  • "Stobi" in Macedonia ("Antigone", 2004)
  • International Theatrical Festival of Mono Performances "Armmono" in Yerevan ("Second Will", 2004, First prize)
  • International Theatrical Festival of Mono Performances "Armmono" in Yerevan ("Double Bass", 2004)
  • Shakespeare International Festival in Gdansk ("Hamlet", 2004)
  • International "Fajr" Theatrical Festival of Iran ("Antigone", 2005)
  • International Theatrical Festival of Ancient Greek Drama in Cyprus ("Clouds", 2005)
  • International Theatrical Festival in Kiev ("Double Bass", 2005)
  • 31st UNESCO-International Theatre Institute World Congress in Manila ("Second Will", 2006)

In 1994 Ghazanchyan made his full-length film "Last line".

2000 up-to-date cultural weekly program "Stage Crossroad" of Ghazanchyan is being broadcasted on the Second State Channel "H2".

Ghazanchyan is the secretary of Theatrical Workers' Union of Armenia.

Ghazanchyan is the founder /2003/ and the president of annual International Theatrical Festival of Mono Performances "ARMMONO" in Yerevan.

Ghazanchyan is also the founder and the president /2004/ of Armenian National Center of International Theatre Institute /UNESCO/.

In 2004 Hakob Ghazanchyan directed the performance "The Second Will" in "Jordan Dzinot" theatre of Veles /Macedonia/.

In 2005 Ghazanchyan visited USA in limits of International Visitor Leadership Program.

In 2005 together with Moscow Theatrical Institute after B. Schukin he founded the Theatrical School.

In 2006 he headed the Armenian delegation in 31st UNESCO-ITI World Congress.
