While implementing its activities WRC co-operated with UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, WFP, the Eurasia Foundation, IFES, USAID, Mamacash /Amsterdam/, OXFAM, AED, Equality Now, journal "Mapping progress" /WEDO/, NDI, IWRAW.

goals

Ø To encourage women's advancement in public/political, economical and social spheres in Armenia; Ø To consolidate women's efforts for the advancement of women's role and status in the Republic; Ø To encourage securing the gender balance in the development process in Armenia.

history

The Women's Republican Council (WRC) was founded in 1987 at its first republican conference. In 1991 WRC convened its second conference, in 1997 - the third and in 2000 the forth conferences. In February 1992 the organisation was registered in the RoA Ministry of Justice as non-governmental, public organisation. WRC was re-registered in July 1997 and December 2000. At this time 83 WRC community chapters are functioning throughout Armenia, 30 of them are operating in villages.
