After the August war in Georgia, Russia has advanced in the South Caucasus and seeks to further strengthen its influence in the region. Moscow has plenty of levers in its possession and the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia is among the most important targets of Moscow – as one containing the part of BTC pipeline.
