History

Established: 1932—35 Consecrated: November 10, 1963

Sanctuary: The parish owns its permanent sanctuary, which is the original one. The parish built a school annex, which opened September 1, 1981. Major benefactors include Vartan and Mariam Manouelian, Mihran and Zabel Mesrobian, Nishan and Manoush Hintlian, Julie Oskoian, Hermine O'Reily, Philip and Oghda O'Gulian, Haiganoush Hatzakordzian Baker, and William Docter.

Important Events: The parish helped commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide at the National Cathedral with the grandson of President Woodrow Wilson in April 1975. In February 1989, the parish hosted a diplomatic banquet between Vazken I, Catholicos of All Armenians, and Karekin II, Catholicos of the Holy Sea of Cilicia, to thank the United States for its support following the 1988 earthquake. The Parish hosted the Diocesan Assembly in 1980; the Choir Association Assembly in 1967, 1984, and 1997; and the ACYOA Sports Weekend in 1997. The parish has also hosted receptions for Armenian Republic President Levon Ter Petrossian and British Baroness Carolyn Cox.
