History

Established: January 1, 1929 Consecrated: May 17, 1937 (old sanctuary), Oc

Sanctuary: The Parish owns its permanent sanctuary, a parish house acquired in 1929, and the present parish house purchased in 1950. Parishioners have built a Hall and other Church buildings. Among its major benefactors are Dolores Zohrab Liebmann, Haig Kavookjian, and Harry Tatosian.

Important Events: Assassination of the Diocesan Primate Abp. Ghevont Tourian, December 1933; Transfer of the remains of Abp. Ghevont Tourian to Holy Cross on November 6. 1938; Burning of the mortgage of the original sanctuary on March 18, 1945; Visitation of His Holiness Vazken I in 1960; Consecration of the venerated picture of Charkhapan Soorp Asdvadzadzin by His Beatitude Abp. Shnork Kaloustian, Patriarch of Constantinople, and the establishment of the shrine in 1986: Celebration of the 50th and 60th Anniversaries of the ordination into sacred priesthood of the late Abp. Tiran Nersoyan; Celebration of the 100th birthday of Mr. Haig Kavookjian
