Shirak Football Club was founded in 1958 in Leninakan (now Gyumri). In 1970-1980 the Club was under name Olympia (Leninakan). All this years, in Soviet Union times it was under State control (like everything else).
In 1991 the Club was taken over by a group of football enthusiasts from Gyumri, who invested their own money in football development in Gyumri.
The President of the Club was elected Mr. Garnik Khachatryan, who is still the President of the Club.
The Vice Presidents of the Club are Mr. Rudik Khodjoyan, Mr. Ashot Gevorgyan and Mr. Tigran Haroyan.
Mr. Anatoli Tirosyan is Secretary of the Club.
Shirak F.C. is the most stable Club in the Country and its Head Coach Mr. Andranik Adamyan (see photo) is Head Coach for the last 12 years (the longest period in modern Armenian football history). The home Stadium of the Club is Gyumri City Stadium with capacity of 3000 spectators (season 2002).
