Lorne Shirinian



Lorne Shirinian was born in Toronto. He received an Honours BA in French Language and Literature from the University of Toronto, an MA in Comparative Literature from Carleton University, and a PhD in Comparative Literature from l'Université de Montréal. He is currently a Professor in the Department of English at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston. Lorne Shirinian's writing explores the lives of individuals who have come to Canada after catastrophes such as genocide, exile and dispersion and who find themselves in a crisis of identity, alienation, acculturation, and assimilation. In 1972 he founded and edited Manna, a review of contemporary poetry in Toronto, which published many of the major Canadian poets in the early 1970s.

Lorne Shirinian

Born in Toronto in 1945. He completed an Honours BA in French language and literature from the University of Toronto, an MA in Comparative Literature at Carleton University and a PhD. in Comparative Literature at l'Universit? de Montr?al. He founded and edited Manna: a review of contemporary poetry (1971 to 1974). He lived, taught and wrote in the Montreal area for 20 years. In 1994, he moved to Kingston, where he is Professor and Head of the Department of English at the Royal Military College of Canada.
