Биография

Sargsyan, Vahram Саргсян Ваграм (b. May 28, 1981, Yerevan). Armenian composer of mostly chamber and choral works that have been performed in Europe and North America; he is also active as a conductor.

Mr. Sargsyan studied composition with Vardan Ajemyan and Aram Satyan and piano with Elisa Melkonyan at the Sayat-Nova School of Music in Yerevan from 1988-96 and music theory at the Tchaikovsky College of Music in Yerevan from 1996-98. He then studied composition with Ashot Zohrabyan at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1998-2003 and has studied conducting with Tigran Hekekyan there since 2000.

His music has been performed in Armenia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Poland, and the USA, including once at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Minneapolis (2002).

As a conductor, he has served as assistant conductor of the Sagmos Female Choir in Yerevan since 2002 and has occasionally led the Armenian Chamber Choir in Yerevan.

His arrangement of Khorhurd Mets – Great Mystery is included in the Oxford University Press anthology World Carols for Choirs (2005).
