Founded by Ruth Thomasian in Boston. Since 1975 when she first began collecting photographs, Thomasian and her staff have developed Project SAVE Armenian Photograph Archives, Inc. into a professional archives of approximately 20,000 images to date (current in year 2000), that are available for public use.

The 30th Anniversary Celebration of Project SAVE Armenian Photograph Archives will be held Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Newton Marriott Hotel.

The event will also mark the 60th birthday of Project SAVE's founder and executive director, Ruth Thomasian. The community is invited to attend.

Steve Kurkjian, investigative reporter for the Boston Globe, will host this anniversary event, and attorney Tony Barsamian will be the featured speaker. The evening will kick off with a cocktail reception and photo exhibit at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner, silent auction, and live music provided by the Al Shavarsh Bardezbanian Ensemble.

Project SAVE Armenian Photograph Archives strives to preserve and promote Armenian heritage and culture through the collection, preservation and dissemination of photographs. With over 25,000 images, both vintage and contemporary, Project SAVE's collection has been painstakingly documented by Thomasian and her staff.
