Биография

Родился в семье армян в Тегеране (Иран), в 1949 г. и иммигрировал в США в 1958 г.

Провел свои юношеские годы в Уотертауне (штат Массачусетс), окончив среднюю школу в 1968 г. Получил степень бакалавра в области политологии в Бостонском университете в 1972 г. Получил степени магистра (1974) и доктора философии (1980) в Университете Брандейса по международным отношениям. Занимал академические должности в колледже Кеньон и колледже Симмонса, прежде чем начать карьеру на государственной службе.

Государственная служба

В 1985 г. Грегоряну было предложено присоединиться к Национальному фонду гуманитарных наук, где он занимал должность администратора по вопросам гуманизма и координатора инициативы «Основы американского общества» до 1988 г. Затем он перешел в Институт мира США (USIP), где до 1994 г. занимал должность директора различных программ грантов, обучения и образования.

Именно в USIP Грегорян сосредоточил свою карьеру на разрешении конфликтов и постконфликтном построении мира:

• разработал и руководил программами обучения навыкам разрешения конфликтов для специалистов по международным отношениям
• проводил обучение правительственных и партийных чиновников в Камбодже, сотрудников дипломатической службы в Министерстве иностранных дел Таиланда и военных офицеров из Латинской Америки в Межамериканском колледже обороны
• разработал и провел учебный семинар по разрешению экологических конфликтов в Будапеште, Венгрия, для старших должностных лиц из девяти государств бассейна реки Дунай

А также, Грегорян реализовал множество проектов по всему миру для содействия миру и примирению.

Грегорян является основателем и директором ряда частных институтов, ориентированных на обучение разрешению конфликтов и подготовку специалистов в области построения мира.
