Martin Nersissian Conductor (1926-1996)
Martin Nersissian is an Armenian conductor and pedagogue.He is a distinguished Artist of the Russian Federation.
Mr.Nersissian studied at Orchestral Conducting and Violin at Yerevan Conservatory (1951-1954). Upon graduation he worked as violinist at the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1954-1959 Martin Nersissian studied at the Leningrad (St.Petersburg) Conservatory (Department of opera & symphony conducting) with Prof. Abramovich.
Martin Nersissian's conducting experience included engagements with Belarus Symphony Orchestra and Saratov Philharmonic Orchestra. Parallel to this activity, he taught conducting at Minsk and Saratov conservatories.
In 1974 Mr.Nersissian organized a symphony orchestra in Cairo and performed a number of concerts. From 1983-86 Mr.Nersissian was the principal conductor and artistic director of the Mosfilm Symphony Orchestra of Russian Federation.
M.Nersissian has debut with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra took place on February 23, 1959. Later, he took over the leadership of the principal conductor of the orchestra (1986-87).
