Hovhannisyan Artashes
Hovhannisyan, Artashes Ованнисян Арташес (b. October 9, 1974, Yerevan). Armenian composer of orchestral, chamber and piano works; he is also active as a violinist.
Mr. Hovhannisyan first studied violin in Yerevan from 1982-89 and earned a certificate of excellence. He then studied composition with Edvard Mirzoyan at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1991-96 and from 1996-98 as a post-graduate student. Since 2002, after obtaining the French Government Scholarship, he has had post-graduate studies in composition with Rainer Boesch at the Académie Internationale Supérieure de Musique de Gaillard in Annemasse (France).
He taught at the Spendiarov Yerevan Music School in 1994-95, coordinated the Department of International Relations at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1997-2001 and has been an assistant to the choral professor at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory since 2000.
Since 2001, he has been a member of the Armenian Composers Union.
