KZV is an Armenian community-supported school. The Armenian Studies Program enables students to develop oral and written fluency in the Armenian language, as well as to study Armenian culture and history, and the current status of the Armenian nation in the homeland and in the Diaspora. KZV strives to instill a sense of pride in every student about his Armenian heritage and a desire to perpetuate his rich language and culture. The Armenian Studies department invites Armenian poets, writers, artists, musicians and other Armenians who have attained local or national prominence on a regular basis to visit KZV as guest speakers. The program holds several Armenian language recitation and general knowledge competitions a year. Students participate in Armenian language drama, and perform recitations and songs at holiday assemblies.
Our mission is to serve the Armenian-American community and the broader public by providing a high-quality academic program in which students are educated through a bilingual curriculum, becoming Armenian-Americans confident in their identity, fluent in English and Armenian, appreciative of both their cultures and well-prepared to become productive members of society. Within the safe, nurturing environment of KZV, parents have a partner in raising articulate, well-rounded children, committed to strong values, personal achievement, and progress for their community and humanity.
KZV offers a challenging and competitive academic program in all curricular areas. We strive to recognize each student as a unique individual and to promote a supportive learning environment, fostering creativity and self-esteem. Beyond our high academic standards, we seek to instill a sense of pride and admiration for the Armenian culture, religion, and traditions, and to nurture the values embodied within them, while developing an appreciation for all cultures of the world. Our program adheres to the established academic principles that a bilingual education gives students the precious gift and tool of their national/ethnic language, while building intellectual skills and facility for stronger problem-solving, academic comprehension and social integration. We emphasize how the elements of our culture can be applied to our modern everyday lives. KZV students are taught the ethical and cultural realities and responsibilities that accompany their heritage.
The KZV curriculum meets the academic standards and state framework of the California Department of Education for kindergarten through eighth grades. Alongside the integral subjects of Mathematics, Science, Algebra, English Language and Literature, and Social Studies, students are also provided a uniquely enriching program of Computer Technology, Physical Education, Armenian language, Armenian History, Armenian Identity, as well as Spanish, Music, Art, Health, and Orchestra.

SAN FRANCISCO--This November, the Krouzian-Zekarian-Vasbouragan (KZV) Armenian School in San Francisco, CA will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
To ensure the continued success and financial stability of the only Armenian American School in Northern California, the Finance Committee of the school has established the KZV Endowment Fund, which has already raised $1.4 million.
For 25 years, KZV has pursued its mission "to provide a first rate, high quality academic education in a safe environment, while also instilling in [the] students a sense of pride in their Armenian identity." The school has consistently produced high scoring students and graduates who have continued their education at some of the country's finest learning institutions.
With the help of the Endowment Fund, the KZV plans on improving and adding to its current programs. Several new programs include Spanish classes for grades 5 through 8, Honors classes for Algebra, and a newly wired school-wide network.
Though the entire San Francisco community has supported the efforts of the school, major donors to the KZV Fund include Henry and Rita Khachaturian ($1 million), Jirair and Serpouhie Sarkissian ($200 thousand), Steve and Louise Krouzian Noroian($150 thousand), and Siroun Bazigian($150 thousand).
