Биография
Родился в Торонто в 1945 году.
Закончил с отличием бакалавриат в области французского языка и литературы Университета Торонто, получил степень магистра в области сравнительной литературы в Университете Карлтон и степень доктора философии сравнительной литературы в Университета Монреаля.
Основал и редактировал обзор современной поэзии (1971 до 1974).
В течение 20 лет жил и работал в Монреале. В 1994 году переехал в Кингстон (Онтарио), где был профессором и заведующим кафедрой английского языка в Королевском военном колледже Канады.
Вышел в отставку в 2010 году в качестве почетного профессора.
